Love Pickleball? Recovery May Be More Important than Your Game

Pickleball has become one of the fastest-growing sports, especially among adults over 50. It's fun, social, great exercise, and a wonderful way to stay active.
But if you're like many players, you've probably noticed something else.
The game is still enjoyable—but your recovery isn't quite what it used to be.
Maybe your legs feel heavy the next day. Your knees or shoulders seem a little stiffer. Or perhaps it simply takes longer to feel ready for your next match.
The good news is that this isn't just about getting older. It's also about how well your body recovers.
Recovery Begins with Your Cells
Every time you play pickleball, your muscles, joints, ligaments, and connective tissues are working hard. To recover, they depend on a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients while metabolic waste products are carried away.
This happens through your microcirculation—the network of tiny blood vessels responsible for delivering oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body and removing waste products.
As we age, healthy microcirculation can become less efficient. When that happens, recovery may take longer, energy may decline, and our bodies may not bounce back as quickly after physical activity.
The same is true whether you enjoy pickleball, cycling, golf, walking, gardening, or simply keeping up with your grandchildren.
Recovery Is Part of Healthy Aging
Many people focus on exercising more, stretching more, or taking supplements. Those can all be helpful, but recovery is just as important.
Supporting your body's natural recovery process helps you continue doing the activities you love with greater ease, vitality, and resilience.
It's not about avoiding activity—it's about helping your body recover so you're ready to enjoy the next adventure.
One Way I Support Recovery
One of the tools I use personally and in my practice is BEMER technology.
Rather than forcing the body to change, BEMER supports healthy microcirculation. Healthy circulation helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your cells while supporting your body's natural recovery processes.
Some people notice improved energy, better sleep, or feeling less fatigued after activity. Others simply notice they recover more comfortably after an active day. Everyone's experience is different, but one thing I've learned is that consistency makes the biggest difference.
I like to think of BEMER as a tool that works with your body—not against it—supporting the remarkable ability your body already has to repair and restore itself.
My Own Experience
My husband and I enjoy riding our bikes together, and staying active is important to both of us. I've also experienced firsthand how supporting recovery can make a difference.
A while back, I developed a shoulder condition that significantly limited my range of motion. My physical therapist gave me exercises to do at home, and I used my BEMER consistently as part of my recovery routine.
At each visit, my physical therapist was amazed at how quickly my shoulder was improving. While I can't say exactly how much each approach contributed, I believe the combination of physical therapy and regular BEMER sessions played an important role in helping my body recover. Before long, I was back to doing the activities I enjoy.
That's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about sharing BEMER with others. I don't see it as a miracle solution. I see it as a way to support the body's natural ability to recover and function at its best.
Stay Active. Recover Well.
Whether your favorite activity is pickleball, cycling, golf, gardening, walking, or simply enjoying life with family and friends, taking care of your recovery is one of the best investments you can make in your long-term health.
When we recover well, we have more energy to do the things we love. We move with greater ease, stay active longer, and continue creating the moments that matter most.
If you're curious about how healthy microcirculation supports recovery and vitality, I'd be happy to answer your questions or invite you to experience a complimentary BEMER session for yourself.
Anne's Thought for the Month
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is the ability to keep doing the things we love. Whether that's playing pickleball, riding bicycles, gardening, traveling, or simply keeping up with our grandchildren, staying active isn't just about exercise—it's about having the vitality to enjoy life.
As we get older, recovery becomes just as important as activity. The better we recover, the more likely we are to continue doing the things that bring us joy.
For me, that's what wellness is all about—not just living longer, but living well.
Here's to staying active, recovering well, and enjoying life to the fullest.
